What Is A Mixture In Chemistry?
What Is A Mixture In Chemistry?Chemistry is a subject that requires a great deal of studying to comprehend and when you get to a point where you are forced to consider a mixture as a substance, it can be very confusing. However, when you have understood the basics of the subject you will be able to use the chemical formula to do much more than just mix your ingredients together.First off, let's take a look at what a chemical compound is. A chemical compound is a combination of two or more elements. For example, is a chemical compound with the alcohol benzene and sulfuric acid. Now let's take a look at what a mixture is. A mixture is basically any two elements that react together chemically and then merge back together again when they cool. Examples of mixtures are oils and water for example. The point to this example is that mixing chemical compounds is not the same as mixing chemicals together. In addition, mixtures don't necessarily have to be liquids. Just about anything could be co nsidered a mixture in chemistry but the best mixtures are usually liquids. If you look up the chemicals in the recipe book, you will find a number of examples of mixtures. For example, sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide could be mixtures because they combine to form a liquid.Once you understand the terms used to describe mixtures, you will have a great deal more understanding when you consider a chemical compound. When you start to learn about chemistry, you will be able to do the calculations necessary to create a chemical compound for whatever element is being mixed. Finally, what is a mixture in chemistry is more about explanation than actual synthesis. Remember that a mixture is just another word for a mixture. This can be very confusing at first but if you take a few minutes to read up on the subject you will begin to understand the terminology and the more complex methods of chemistry.

Then vs than Analisando I would rather cuddle then have sex
Then vs than Analisando I would rather cuddle then have sex A internet pode ser um poço de inutilidades, mas, de vez em quando, aparece algo interessante, como é o caso desta imagem com a qual esbarrei esta semana. Achei a imagem curiosa, não tanto pela mensagem, mas pelo fato de que, mesmo sem querer, ia acabar por fazer com que as pessoas pensassem um pouco. Se você, tal como muitas pessoas, ficou confuso com a mensagem, fique atento à explicação.Na imagem a gente lê: I would rather cuddle then have sex. If youre good with grammar youll get it. Há muita coisa para falar sobre a mensagem, por isso vamos por partes.1. A tradução da frase I would rather cuddle then have sex é Eu preferiria aninhar depois fazer sexo. Contudo, há quem confunda then com than e leia Eu preferiria aninhar do que fazer sexo. Daà que a frase venha com um desafio, porque se você souber a diferença, não se deixa enganar.then vs thanThen tem um sentido de tempo ou de consequência. Pode ser usado para indicar uma sequência de tempo, para refe rir um ponto temporal no passado ou para indicar uma consequência.I bought rice, then I came home to make dinner. Eu comprei arroz, depois vim para casa fazer o jantar. She was powerful then. Ela era poderosa naquela época. If they are arriving late, then we should postpone the meeting. Se eles vão chegar tarde, então nós devÃamos adiar a reunião.Than tem sentido comparativo. Por isso, deve ser usado apenas quando o intuito é fazer uma comparação.I love you more than you love me. Eu amo você mais do que você me ama.2. Na frase, then aparece com rather, uma palavra muito usada em construções comparativas, mas cujo uso não se restringe apenas à s comparações. Veja os exemplos:I would rather eat strawberries then pineapple. Eu preferiria comer morangos depois abacaxi.Aqui, o sentido na frase é temporal, por causa do uso do then.I would rather eat strawberries than pineapple. Eu preferiria comer morangos do que abacaxi.Já aqui o sentido é compar ativo, por causa do uso do than.Existem diversas construções e formas de usar then e than, mas compreendendo que then em sentido de tempo ou de consequência e than tem sentido comparativo já ajuda, e muito, a evitar erros que comprometem o sentido daquilo que você pretende dizer.Tal como esta imagem, existem outras que também ajudam no aprendizado se analisarmos um pouco. Conforme eu for encontrando coisas interessantes, eu mostro para vocês.

5 Ways ESL Students Can Improve Their Everyday English
5 Ways ESL Students Can Improve Their Everyday English Tips from an Irvine ESL Tutor: 5 Ways ESL Students Can Improve Their Everyday English Tips from an Irvine ESL Tutor: 5 Ways ESL Students Can Improve Their Everyday English ESL students have a long journey in front of them. Any student learning a second language as an older child or adult will be using their brain at a more intensive level and putting their memory and comprehension skills to the test. Additionally, students who are, or will be, taking classes in English will also have to learn about English language jargon and be able to read information buried within an academic text. Once ESL students can master their speaking and listening skills, they are more likely to be able to move on to the next level of fluency. Learning a second language can become tedious early on, but there are a few ways students can work through this repetition to reach their goals. 1. Pick an everyday topic or situation Most ESL students will be working with a classroom teacher or private Irvine ESL tutor. They should sign up for a speaking or situational class where they can learn about how to deal with everyday topics. Additionally, students can have a speaking companion to help them refine situations specific to their needs and lifestyle. For instance, one session may cover how to order at the students favorite cafe and the next might include how to make a friend at the local gym. Being able to chat about day to day topics makes life easier and more social. 2. Word of the day English language students are also encouraged to pick a word of the day. They can choose from possible words that help them communicate with their peers, unique terms that will help them broaden their vocabulary or a word list selected by their tutor. Some ESL students will try to memorize 10 or more words every day but often become overwhelmed and end up forgetting all of them. However, learning just one single word per day is usually pretty easy to do. Students should practice using these words as part of their session or with their speaking companion to practice appropriate grammar and verb conjugation (READ: ESL Study Tips for Taking the SAT). 3. Get a beach read Academic text can become dry and overwhelming very quickly. However, easy to read novels and magazines AKA âbeach readsâ can be fun and informative on a practical level. Students who read a 200-word magazine article on a topic they enjoy or work through a chapter book with simple dialogue will be able to work on reading comprehension at a reasonable level until they become comfortable with more complicated passages. 4. Watch episodes of a comedy or drama with limited dialogue Watching TV in a second language can also be a fun way to reinforce listening skills. Although sentences will be simplified and repeated when necessary during a tutoring session or in a classroom, ESL students will need to become comfortable with faster interactive dialogue before they can converse easily with native English speakers. Most situational comedies and some dramas will provide limited yet practical dialogue that can allow the student to comprehend a fair portion of the material in a visual format (READ: Tips From an Irvine Academic Tutor: 5 Apps for ESL Students). 5. Work with a speaking partner on a regular basis ESL students are also encouraged to work with a speaking partner regularly. Although even one hour once a week can be helpful, students who wish to become comfortable with their fluency are encouraged to work with their group several times a week. If students canât meet with their tutor that often, they can work with their peers who are also learning English or with a native English speaking partner. The more a student can vary their vocabulary and become comfortable making mistakes- and correcting them -in a small group environment, the more likely they are to get fluent within a reasonable period. Eat Your Heart Out, English! 12 Beautiful Words in Other Languages
Eat Your Heart Out, English! 12 Beautiful Words in Other Languages 12 Beautiful Words in Other Languages Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. A picture is worth a thousand words. The truth is, words tend to get a bad rap.Our world is inundated with visual stimulation. People need to see to believe. We often want to watch instead of read or listen. And its not just television, movies, memes and YouTube that were watching.Look around you. Go ahead. Look around. There are images everywhere, both still and moving. They can be incredibly awesome or woefully uninteresting. Either way, they make us feel something and when we want to talk about what that something is, we use our words. No matter how much visual stimulation we encounter on a daily basis, words will always be our primary source of communication. Its just that simple. And were desperate for more of them. How many times have you been in a situation where youve said I really dont know how to explain it or I wish there was a word for this? Life lends itself to a vast panoply of experiences that makes us feel, see or do things that are weird, cool, kind or even troubling, and sometimes we just want to tell someone about it.As great as the English language is, it has its limitations. English is taking small strides towards expansion. For instance, selfie, google (the verb) and lol have made it into the dictionary, so all hope isnt lostâ"or is it?Luckily, other languages from around the world often offer the solution to the language limitation issue. Expand your horizons by opening your mind to beautiful words and phrases from languages around the world, and youll always know just what to say.Lets take a look at how other languages describe some of the pains and pleasures of humanity that we just cant find the words for. 12 Beautiful Words in Other LanguagesThe list below is a great taste of the languages represented, but to learn more beautiful words, phrases, concepts and sentences, we recommend you check out FluentU. FluentU takes real-world videosâ"like movie trailers, music videos, news and inspiring talksâ"and turns them into personalized language lessons for beautiful, individualized learning.1. Douleur ExquiseLanguage: FrenchLove. The gift and the curse. The be all and end all. We all know what it feels like to love someone. Its the best feeling in the worldâ"when its reciprocated. Theres arguably no worse feeling than the pain of unrequited love. Many of us know the feeling of looking on at that other person wanting nothing more than to be forever wrapped in their arms, but knowing it will never happen because they dont love you back. Its painful. Its horrible. Its douleur exquise. Meaning: The pain of unrequited love.2. SobremesaLanguage: SpanishThere are little joys in life like that of gathering together for a meal with family and close friends. The food, the drinks and the laughter can make for great memories. We get so swept up in the conversation that hours can slip by unnoticed. In Latin cultures this practice is so common that they came up wi th a word for it.Meaning: The conversation at the table that continues after a meal is over.3. Heimat Language: GermanMost of us associate who we are with where we come from. The food, the music, the art, friends, family, school, childhood memories and adulthood experiences all stem from the place we call home. Heimat refers to the place that makes us who we are. It refers to the attitudes and beliefs weve formed that have evolved over generations. It doesnt refer to just homeland pride, but our roots.Meaning: The place were connected to that shaped who we are.4. Forelsket Language: NorwegianIs it infatuation? Fascination? Obsession? This is the word to describe that giddy feeling when we havent reached the point of I love you, but were past the initial crush phase. In English the best weve got for the feeling in this stage of a relationship is I really, really like you a lot or I like like you. If you ask a Norwegian, theyll say its forelsket.Meaning: The feelings yo u have when youre falling in love with someone but you havent quite reached love yet.5. HyggeligtLanguage: DanishThis is that feeling you get when youre cuddled up with that special someone, or when your mom makes your favorite meal while youre home for the holidays. Maybe you get it when youre curled up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa watching Netflix. Its that warm tingly feeling of comfort in your chest and your bones that makes you want to stay in the moment forever.Meaning: A feeling of extreme comfort or coziness.6. ????? (Toska)Language: RussianIts been said that no words in the English language could ever capture the full meaning of toska. Lets give it a shot anyway. This word is used to describe a deep, dark feeling of despair. Its the ultimate feeling of yearning and hopelessness. Its the kind of pain that tortures the soul. Its pure, unadulterated, heart-wrenching sadnessâ"something wed all like to feel on a very infrequent basis.Meaning: A feeling a deep s piritual anguish for no specific reason.7. ??? (Ukiyo-e)Language: JapaneseThis word literally means floating world, but its used to describe people who dont take a second of their life for granted. They live in the present and dont let the small things get to them. As difficult as this level of enlightenment is to achieve, how great would it be if we could all just let the small things roll off of our backs?Meaning: Someone who lives in the moment and is detached from the minor distractions in life.8. Gigil Language: FilipinoTheres the adorable baby in the supermarket waving at all the passersby. Then theres the mischievous cat that knocks your morning coffee off of the counter before youve had a single sip. Both of them exhibit such intense cuteness that they give you this extreme urge of wanting to squeeze them, and thats what this word tries to capture. The closest phrase in the English language for this sensation is I could just eat you up. However, the English phrase only captures the positive end of this sensation.Meaning: The sudden urge to want to squeeze someone or something out of extreme cuteness or irritation.9. ?????? (Kreng-jai)Language: ThaiThe world would be a much happier place if everyone showed some common courtesy. However, it would be utopia if everyone showed some kreng-jai. The sentiment behind this word is related to an extreme sense of courtesy. It comes from a place of not wanting anyone to have to inconvenience themselves for you. Please dont go to any trouble, is generally something we say to be polite. If the other person insists, a lot of the time we cave. Kreng-jai is the opposite. You would insist that the other person doesnt go to any trouble.Meaning: Not wanting someone to have to go out of their way for you.10. Jayus Language: IndonesianTwo men walk into a bar, youd think one of them would have seen it. Yup. The bad joke. Dont worry, Ill keep my day job. Most of the time when someone tells a bad joke the rooms fall s to that uncomfortable awkward silence, and the joke teller ends up mortified. However, sometimes a joke is so astonishingly bad that we cant help but laugh at it. Its one of those stolen moments of joy where, fortunately, no ones pride is injured in the process.Meaning: A joke so bad or told so poorly that one cant help but laugh.11. ?????? (Toâoborni)Language: ArabicEarly on we got a taste of the pain of unrequited love, but now were in the realm of unconditional love. This is a word used for that person who you love so much that you would rather die than be on this earth without them. Its appropriate for use between parent and child, romantic partners and even close friends.Meaning: You bury me; I love you so much that I want to die before you.12. Ilunga Language: TshilubaThis is from a language spoken in a region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It may be one of the hardest words to translate because it has so many layered meanings. Irvine College Tutor Tips 5 Ways to Boost your College GPA
Irvine College Tutor Tips 5 Ways to Boost your College GPA Tips from a Private Irvine College Tutor: 5 Ways to Boost your College GPA Tips from a Private Irvine College Tutor: 5 Ways to Boost your College GPA Many college students want to boost their GPA for one reason or another. Perhaps they will be applying to graduate school, an internship that is focused on student transcripts, or going into a profession that requires high grades and test scores. There are several ways students can get back their competitive edge and raise their GPA, although some options are more effective than others. There are a few classes where students can earn a so-called âeasy A,â but they wont always be as meaningful as courses within a students major or related to their potential career path. Depending on the studentâs individual needs, there are a few things they can do to boost that GPA for more tips, consult your private Irvine college tutor from TutorNerds. 1. Take more courses within your major Students generally have a talent within their major; otherwise they will have switched to something else. As a result, students who take their extra units within their major field of study are more likely to excel. Although undergrad school is a good time to explore different courses, students who need to raise their GPA may have better luck sticking within their major. This not only helps a students overall GPA but gives them more experience in their potential career field. This can demonstrate a true love of that subject matter to potential grad schools if students are looking to further their education. 2. Take a course you know you will excel in Many students have a talent that lies outside of their major field of study. Perhaps a future engineer has a good ear for music or perhaps a biology major is good at crunching numbers. If students are taking courses outside their major, they should consider something they know they have a talent in. Someone who got straight As in math classes in high school might consider taking an extra math class or two. Students who are unsure where their talents lie are encouraged to visit an academic counselor who can take a look at past transcripts and help them figure it out (READ: 5 signs you need a math tutor in college). 3. Take a course over the summer Sometimes students dont perform as well during the academic year because they are overwhelmed with a full class load as well as other obligations such as a part time job. If a student needs to take a difficult class, or retake it, they should consider summer school. Although summer school classes move quicker and are more intense, most students will have the opportunity to simply concentrate on that one single course. Without the distraction of multiple other subjects, students have a better chance of getting an A or B. 4. Take a few elective units Students can also sign up for a few elective units that have nothing to do with their major. College is a time for academic experimentation so one or two elective units shouldnt hurt. These can be physical education classes, study skills courses, or just something the student has an interest in. Although these courses probably wont be impressive to graduate schools, they can help raise a students GPA to get them to the point where they can at least apply. Additionally, students who take a course that might be different from their intended career field have the opportunity to meet new people and experience something out of their comfort zone and daily routine (READ: 5 Things you might not expect from a college final). 5. Get rid of any grades below a C One thing that can really kill a GPA is any course that a student received a D or F in. Students should visit an academic counselor to review their options. Many universities will allow a student to retake the exact same course and either replace their F with their new grade or average the two grades together. However, each school is different so students are encouraged to confirm any information before taking the class over. If students are currently enrolled in a class where they are looking at a failing grade, they can talk to the professor and determine their chances of passing with a C or better. It may be time to consider taking a W (withdraw) on their transcript rather than risk an F. The best way to improve your GPA is with the help of an Irvine private college tutor. Get to know your students with these fun activities
Get to know your students with these fun activities Many of you have likely started your teach abroad placements and are still getting to know your classroom (or maybe even classrooms!) of students. Whether youâre an ESL teacher or a certified teacher in a public or international school, the better you know your students as individuals, the better placed youâll be when it comes to addressing their learning needs on an individual basis. The great thing is you can make getting to know your students a fun process by reserving a small amount of time at the beginning or end of a class every once in a while for a short game thatâs both enjoyable and educational. So take some time to connect by trying one of these three activities!Twenty questionsNot only is this a great opportunity to learn a little bit more about your studentsâ personal interests, it also gets them asking each other questions to problem solve. To play this game, each person thinks of a person or an object, and their partner has to figure out which person or thing the y have chosen using 20 questions that result in a yes or no answer. These questions could be anything from âIs this person male or female?â to âIs this person a musician?â This might also teach you a little more about cultural icons, depending on where you are teaching.Would you rather...?This activity is particularly good for getting to know your students better, because it asks them to identify their personal preferences.Keep a list of questions for your students that start, âWould you ratherâ¦â Some examples include âWould you rather be able to fly or read minds?â, âWould you rather be famous or be the best friend of a famous person?â, âWould you rather have more time or more money?âYou can have your students participate in this activity in a number of ways: you can either have them move to one side of the room if they answer one way, the other side of the room if they answer the other way; you can ask students individually; or you can group students and ask them to come up with their own questions and then share them. This game is also a good way to gather some feedback around classroom activity. For example, you could ask more learning-oriented questions and see what preferences your students have.Q&A sessionSometimes just the open opportunity to ask questions can be fun and beneficial. Whenever youâre left with a few minutes at the end of a class, you can open the floor for them to ask you any questions that theyâd like. You can either theme the questions (things we studied in class today, cultural questions, new vocabulary, or anything else you can think of), or you can let them ask whatever theyâd like! When this exercise is centered around classroom lessons and activity, it will benefit all students, even those that choose not to ask questions, because though only a few students may actually ask questions aloud, many will have similar questions. If youâre working in a country where students seem particularly discouraged from asking questions of you, you can try to overcome this by grouping students into smaller groups and asking them to come up with one question as a group to ask you all together. Then no one student is singled out.Whatever activities you choose, make sure you remember to model for your students so that they can see what the game looks likeâ"youâll have a higher participation rate this way!
